ICT United!

At the start of February, Auckland software company WML invited ICT for a friendly after-work game of soccer. It was a nice idea; players from the two neighbouring companies could meet up and play a light-hearted knockabout after work, followed by a couple of beers in the summer sun. The sun was there, as were the beers, but the 'light-hearted knockabout?' That disappeared after just a few minutes.

Teams were chosen, goal sizes were carefully measured, and the game was on. The ability levels might have varied, but both teams gave everything they had, and the excitement level was fever pitch. Pun intended.

With the rules widely ignored, goals were plentiful, and after an hour of high-speed action, a shameful own-goal won the game and 20 men left the pitch - sweaty, limping, exhausted and smiling.
